The first few weeks often decide success in the first year. Spotting repeated absences early lets an adviser offer support before the student drops out.

[STUDENT_FIRSTNAME] [STUDENT_LASTNAME]Hello,
[STUDENT_FIRSTNAME] [STUDENT_LASTNAME] is showing a dropout warning sign: [ALERT_TRIGGER].
The student has been offered a chat. Please follow up if no appointment has been booked within X days.
The [VARIABLES] are filled in by Edusign each time a message is sent. Replace the fields in yellow with your own values in the alert's email editor.
All hours of absence count here, justified or not: in the first year, the amount of absence is the signal, not the reason. The tone of the email is deliberately supportive.
In Edusign, open Attendance › Alerts › Add an alert, then fill in the blocks in this order. Open the Alerts screen in Edusign

Early in their studies, a student who is disengaging builds up both justified and unjustified absences. The total amount is the best signal.
It is an example over 14 days. Adjust it to the teaching hours of your first-year groups.
The administrator you tick, usually the student success adviser or the student life team.
