Before Edusign: informal, laborious attendance with no traceability

Before Edusign, Gamaliel used Excel lists generated by the university platform. He created tables divided by class to track student attendance. In practice, it was easier to ask who was absent than to note who was present one by one. The process lacked formality and students had no way to verify whether their attendance had been correctly recorded.

Gamaliel was looking to improve attendance tracking, both in terms of time and formality, so that his students would know with certainty whether their presence or absence had been captured correctly. He discovered Edusign through a Copilot-style chatbot while researching digital tools for his "Uso de Medios" (Media Usage) course.

« It was easier to ask who was absent rather than note who was present. There was no formality, and it was a real challenge to take attendance correctly. »

With Edusign: intuitive setup and everyday practicality

Setting up Edusign was straightforward. The platform is intuitive and only requires an initial adaptation period. Gamaliel uses it from both his computer and phone, giving him total flexibility during his classes.

Beyond simplicity, what convinced Gamaliel is the tool's everyday practicality. He appreciates the various options available, such as the ability to add absence justifications directly in the platform. During in-person attendance, he displays a QR code on screen, students scan it from their seats, and attendance is done without interrupting the class.

For remote sessions, the process is just as smooth: Gamaliel shares the code and students sign in independently. No need to stop to take attendance. He can check attendance statistics at any time for precise tracking.

« I don't need to stop. I share the code, they take attendance and that's it. »

The results: empowered students and formalised tracking in 5 minutes

The most striking impact of Edusign at Universidad Linda Vista is not just the time savings, even though attendance now takes a maximum of 5 minutes. It is the transformation in student behaviour that surprised Gamaliel.

Students were very excited to learn they would take attendance this way. Using their phones is natural for their generation, and they enjoy being more responsible for their attendance. Before, they were not alarmed by the number of accumulated absences. With Edusign, they have developed a genuine interest in their attendance, because they know they cannot cheat: Gamaliel has all the records to prove whether they attended or not.

Edusign also sends him class notifications, which proves useful for optimising his time even when he knows his schedule.
